Mikaela received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at Minnesota State University Moorhead. She then went on to Michigan State University to receive her master’s in fisheries and wildlife. During her time at MSU, she studied alternative methods (alarm cues + behavioral responses) to control the invasive sea lamprey in the Great Lakes. Currently, she is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas at Arlington. At UTA, she works with Trinidadian Killifish to study the influence of selective pressures on the evolution of stress response.
